DKO Rough Segment from Studio Session #1

On January 27, 2012 my trio DKO (Davis, Keston, O’Brien) spent about thirteen hours at the lovely Waterbury Studios in Northeast Minneapolis. We have yet to properly edit or mix any of the six or more hours of material that we performed during the session, but Jon Davis has condensed a few segments recently for sharing. Here’s one of those segments for your listening pleasure.

Casino Royale Instrumental Circa 1995

Former A&R rep and all-around minneapolis music nut, John Kass recently posted eight tracks ripped from a couple of demo tapes that we submitted to his record label back in the mid-90s. You can check out all of the tracks on his blog gojohnnygo.com. I’m including an instrumental track below that’s loaded with some note-y Pro-One lines revealing that I have been using that synth for at least sixteen years. Crazy!

DKO @ Try This #4 Segment B

This is the second excerpt from our DKO set at the Slam Factory on Friday, July 29, 2011. My parts in this segment are dominated by a pulsing arpeggiation on the Pro-One with a little bit of Rhodes sparingly sprinkled in.

DKO @ Try This #4 Segment A

This is the first of a couple of excerpts from our DKO set at the Slam Factory series “Try This” #4 on Friday, July 29, 2011. This live recording sounds pretty good, but we are also planning to spend some time in the studio soon.
