Bubbles

Ever get yelled at by your parents for blowing bubbles through your straw? Well, now it’s my job to blow bubbles through a straw. For this recording I blew bubbles in a glass of water (not Guinness as the photo suggests) while recording the results. I used this sound to create the underwater atmosphere for Aaron Dabelow’s 3D animated short, “Drown”. You can hear the pitched and processed version in the post, Water Atmosphere. There’s also a link to the movie in the post.

  1. GO FILL YOUR BATHTUB. TAKE YOUR RUBBER STOPPER. TURN IT UPSIDEDOWN OVER THE DRAIN HOLE. MOVE IT AROUND, RELEASING THE WATER UNILL IT BEGINS TO VIBRATE UP AND DOWN. RECORD THE RHYTHMIC RANDOMLY PITCHED DRIPPING NOISES THAT COME FROM YOUR OVERFLOW DRAIN. BEST NOISE I’VE EVER MADE OUTSIDE MY BODY.

  2. So I followed the rabbit trail from these bubbles, to the “Drown” short, to finding out the name of the song, to iTunes and just bought “One Day to Save All Life” and love it so far….
